Jeep Weekend at Crystal Beach: Honoring the Tradition, Embracing the Change 2025

  • Posted on

Through the years in May, Crystal Beach was a vibrant hub for Jeep enthusiasts during Go Topless Jeep Weekend—a nationwide celebration where Jeepers remove the tops of their vehicles to enjoy the open air and kick off the summer season. This event, rooted in the love of Jeeps and the freedom of the open road, has long made the Bolivar Peninsula one of the most iconic destinations for Jeep lovers in Southeast Texas.

What began as a fun, community-driven gathering has grown significantly over the years. While it still draws passionate Jeepers, recent events have also attracted large crowds of non-Jeep participants, leading to overcrowding, safety concerns, and a shift away from the event’s original spirit. The 2024 weekend, in particular, brought these challenges into sharp focus.

In response, Galveston County Sheriff Jimmy Fullen, newly elected in 2024, has taken proactive steps to restore order and safety. With the support of over 17 local, state, and federal agencies, a coordinated plan is now in place to protect both visitors and residents while preserving the essence of Jeep Weekend 2025.

As a local vacation rental business, we’ve seen the highs and lows of this event over the years. We’re optimistic that these new measures will help bring Jeep Weekend back to its roots—celebrating the Jeep lifestyle in a safe, respectful, and enjoyable way for everyone.

Whether you're a long-time Jeeper or planning your first visit to Crystal Beach, we’re here to help you make the most of your stay on the beautiful Texas coast.
